Be sure to get your hands on one of the Buy Local Clinton County coupons good for discounts on purchases at participating merchants. Look for the Buy Local Clinton County Posters to know who is participating.
The coupons were handed out at the Holidazzle parade in downtown Wilmington.

Looking for a way to help make a difference? How about helping our Clinton County businesses? A support Clinton County business awareness campaign, Buy Local First launched in October and is aimed at encouraging local shopping and use of local service providers by Clinton County citizens.
Data reveals that for every dollar spent inside the county as much as 73 cents of it stays within the local economy depending on local or national ownership of the business.
Doing something as simple as eating or buying your groceries locally can help! Here’s how:
1. You keep dollars in the Wilmington and Clinton County economy
2. You embrace and support what makes us unique
3. You create and maintain local jobs
4. You help the environment
5. You build our community
6. You conserve your tax dollars
7. You create more choice
8. You receive local expertise
9. You invest in local entrepreneurs
10. You help make Wilmington and Clinton County a destination
So the next time you are looking for a new novel, or you decide to eat out, consider making a difference by choosing to buy local, stay local, eat local, and be local.
Posters and awareness are the first pieces of the Buy Local First campaign, though plans are underway for fun ways to participate so be on the lookout for more information and activities.
Businesses throughout the county can get their Buy Local First supplies by stopping by the Wilmington News Journal and Books n’ More beginning November 27. Supplies include Buy Local First Posters and informational fliers.
